About Us

Philanthropy Ghana is a community of philanthropy support organisations (PSOs), philanthropy enablers and funders promoting and growing philanthropy in Ghana. Philanthropy Ghana is registered with the Registrar General Department on 21st May, 2020 in Ghana.

Why Now?

There is the need for philanthropy networks in Ghana to work together, synergize and co-ordinate more efficiently and effectively. This would enable the sector to jointly advocate for policy issues, respond to emerging concerns in the operating environment as well as establish a platform for peer learning.

NEXUS Ghana, Giving Tuesday Ghana, Women in Philanthropy Ghana (WIP-Ghana) AYPN-Ghana and others have interest in an active philanthropy platform. Since each network is working there is the need for have a common network-Philanthropy Ghana. There has been a call by all these networks on the need to strengthen national discussions and policy advocacy for an enabling environment.

Currently there is growing efforts by the Government in engaging corporate philanthropy groups; therefore reinforcing the importance of having a collective voice for similar engagement.  Apart from avoidance of duplication and competition among actors, Philanthropy Ghana Community will have important of sharing and learning on the best practices and find solutions to the Knowledge gaps on philanthropy and they have had implications on the sector‘s recognition.

To grow innovative and effective giving in Ghana.

Our Mission

To provide leadership for local philanthropy and social investment in Ghana and support local giving, inspire more giving and build sustainable philanthropy ecosystem, and adopt and utilize technology and data to increase the sector effectiveness.

Our Goal

It is envisioned that the coalition will organically increase and build the constituency of the philanthropic sector, and grow philanthropy to be recognised as a credible agent of delivering national development in Ghana. GADeF International in partnership with Giving Tuesday Ghana, NEXUS Ghana, GADeF Ghana Alliance, Women in Philanthropy Ghana(WIP-Ghana) and the African Youth Philanthropy Network(AYPN)-Ghana came together to initiate the formation of the  coalition-Philanthropy Ghana. Currently, with the Technical support from the Centre for Strategic Philanthropy and Social Investment (CESPSI) at Pentecost University, Philanthropy Ghana will be hosting its roundtable stakeholder engagement on the first edition of the Ghana Philanthropy Week celebration to be celebrated on the last week of November every year.
